"Discovering one's values to reveal one's leadership springs" : this was the objective of the latest digital Meet & Learn workshop offered by the EVE, Octave and Noé teams. Coach Fabienne Alamelou, founder of Leaderslab , gave her advice so that participants learn to identify what mobilizes them in their daily lives and what is important to them in order to focus this creative energy in their work.
As in previous editions, the Meet & Learn on 11 June followed a programme of time for exchange: first a first moment to get to know the members of the event and then the participants were able to put into practice Fabienne Alamelou's teachings in a dynamic activity in groups of three people. The proposed exercise was challenging : to tell the story of a weekend that was "representative" of their routine so that others could analyse their story and identify key values such as creativity, loyalty, a sense of sharing or autonomy.
Some participants were surprised at how easy it was for them to "guess" each other's values by listening to them. The way someone was able to talk about their pleasure in interacting with people in the market, for example, which demonstrated their attachment to sharing and community ; or the admiration of another participant for the castle she visited with her partner : memory, nostalgia and tradition.
Knowing how to recognise one's values is all the more important in a context of crisis and the search for meaning at work. "We live in the present, but we all aspire to a 'desired world', i.e. a world that corresponds to our ideals of equality, respect for the environment, well-being, etc. It is this desire that motivates us," says the coach. He adds : our "transition actions", which contribute to the construction of a better society, are a source of "creative tension" that is very useful for our professional activity.
Fabienne Alamelou also presented the concept of "meta-values": these are the values that result from the crossing of several qualities, such as "conquest" (ambition, innovation, progress); " competence " (responsiveness, excellence, high standards) or those called "morals" (honesty, integrity, transparency). As "meta-values" are not necessarily perceived in the same way by the whole team, it is important to take the time to bring them out during a meeting to analyze the different reactions.
At the end of the workshop, one idea was clear : activating the values of employees is useful for creating motivation ! This requires an ability to listen to oneself and the other – an exercise that creates bonds and can bring out new skills in the team.
