To mark the 15th anniversary of the EVE Program, we are doing something new with our “Practice” section. Because if you want to shift the lines of equality, you have to learn how to get everyone on board. That’s why this month, we are giving the floor to Jean-Claude Le Grand, Director of Human Resources at L’Oréal, for a one-of-a-kind express interview. Here we go!
EVE: You have been the most fervent Eve Program supporter since the beginning. As a man, why is the program so necessary for women?
Jean-Claude Le Grand: It’s necessary for both men and women. For men, because it helps them realize how essential it is to share power and to be open to women. And for women, because it boosts their confidence; it allows them to fully embrace who they are and to take their place naturally. Not because they are women, but because they are strong, competent, and legitimate.
EVE: We have set a quota of 20% men for the program, so they can experience being a minority in the same way that women so often do. Why is it important to involve men?
Jean-Claude Le Grand: It is important to raise awareness that even today, in too many companies (but no longer at L’Oréal), women are still in the minority.
EVE: Why is it so important now, in 2026, to work on diversity throughout the company?
Jean-Claude Le Grand: There is no choice in the matter. It’s essential. It is a moral imperative, an ethical imperative, and also a business necessity. Diversity strengthens decisions, enriches perspectives, and makes the company stronger and more efficient.
