Taking care of oneself to better take care of others with NonViolent Communication
Anissa Vermeil de Conchard
Like many girls born in Africa, I was raised with the values of respect for others and hard work. These qualities are well valued in our society, in our families, in the school system and in the professional world. But this coin has a flipside. About 10 years ago, I was a devoted wife and mother at home, an ambitious manager at work and I took up a coaching degree. I nearly had a burn-out – a syndrome that mainly affects women. By always wanting to please others, I had forgotten to listen to myself until my body failed me.
In this conference I will share how, thanks to NonViolent Communication (NVC), I made a radical realization: taking care of oneself IS taking care of others.
I have been using NVC for nearly 20 years, for myself first and now as a corporate trainer and coach. During this keynote, I will share the pillars of NVC that allow us to achieve greater well-being by listening to ourselves.
